I don’t have a lot of information on Yuyi. On the Fountain Pen Companion website, it’s grouped under a brand called Memory Fish. I don’t have any information to verify this connection, but I have included both names in the brands page here, as well.
This is Shaw Fog from Yuyi’s waterproof series of ten (possibly more) pigmented inks. I picked up this, and a green called Sunset Rain from the series. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I have to say that I’m totally impressed. I’ve already ordered a few more from the series! The inks came from AliExpress, and the seller confirmed that they are from Yuyi. Nearly identical inks are offered under the Tramol brand, but I don’t know if there’s any connection between the companies. Either way, these are some very nice, trouble-free pigment inks!
Yuyi Inks - Shaw Fog - Color Range
Shaw Fog is a beautiful, and quite unique, deep, earthy, rust orange. There is good variation, both towards bright dark yellows in light areas, and rust reds in darker areas. It also has a lovely, powdery textured matte finish. This is a beautiful ink on the page overall, and an unusually beautiful pigment ink.
Yuyi Inks - Shaw Fog - Shading and Edge
To be honest, I’m shocked by how well this ink performs (especially for the price). It’s been absolutely trouble-free, with no clogging or staining, so far. Always use a little caution with pigmented inks, and clean pens regularly. It’s fairly wet and smooth flowing, but it dries quite quickly (10 seconds on Rhodia). There’s no feather or bleed, and as expected, it’s fairly water-resistant. It’s a great writing ink!
Yuyi Inks - Shaw Fog - Ink Texture
I definitely recommend Yuyi Shaw Fog. As I mentioned, I’ve seen the series listed as Yuyi, and as Tramol, but the labels are the same, and they are easy to recognize. I paid under US$6 per 20 ml bottle including shipping, but I’ve seen them listed for as much as $11 a bottle, so shop around. I’m excited for more from this series, and brand!
