Tono&Lims - Seoul 흰꼬리쭉쭉
Seoul 흰꼬리쭉쭉 or “White-tailed Jjuk Jjuk” (in Korean, it’s a really cute name!) is one of four inks Tono&Lims created for their Space Walk traveling ink show’s first time in Korea in Oct. 2024. I bought two of the four, as there were so many interesting and hard-to-find inks available from the overseas vendors at the show.
Yellows are difficult to make both interesting and beautiful, while also being usable as a good writing ink. It’s one of my favorite colors when done well, and this one ticks all of the boxes for me! I first saw it as a mustard, and it is on many papers. However, after using it extensively on a variety of papers, I think of it as the color of an aged Meyer lemon. The shading is very nice, too. It brings out the darker, more “aged” tones, and the contrast is what really brings the color to life.
Writing performance has been consistent and reliable. On my Cosmo Air Light swatch, it seems to have reacted to fingerprints on the paper, but I didn’t find that to be a common result. Other than that example, strokes were clean and sharp across the variety of papers I use for testing and daily writing (including standard office copy paper). There were no other problems with feathering. Flow is neutral and smooth, or maybe just a touch on the dry side. Ghosting is very light or absent completely. I found little to no show-through on any papers and no bleeding at all. In terms of drying time, it was pretty average, as expected. I think this is a nice writing ink.
The four Tono&Lims Seoul inks are limited editions released for the event, but you can probably find them at the next couple of Space Walk shows, as well. It’s probably worth looking online, too. If you’re interested in this one, I hope you can get a bottle. If you enjoy inks in this range of colors, you’ll really like this one.
