Giftionery Delta - Skyhigh
Giftionery Delta is a popular destination in Osaka, Japan, and for good reason! They have a wide selection of stationery and art supplies to tempt any of us, and quite a few store-exclusive collaboration inks and pens. In the summer of 2024, they blended three inks at a Sailor Ink Workshop held in their store and released them on their own brand. I picked one up when they visited Seoul, and I really regret not getting the other two. This is Skyhigh, and it’s currently my favorite blue.
Skyhigh is a beautiful blue. The moment it hit the paper, I was in love. Wet, the blue base starts out somewhere between Iroshizuku Kon-peki and Ku-jaku, but it starts to change almost immediately. A greenish undertone boldly emerges that really makes this ink stand out. The green influence is mysterious and almost separate from the blue. It reminds me of a blue sea with bright seaweed visible floating just under the surface. For me, the balance is perfect and allows both colors to sing. It’s vibrant with life, rather than being loud.
Shading is moderate and ranges from medium to dark. It’s gentle and never dramatic and doesn’t distract attention from the colors. There are tiny flashes of sheen on stroke edges on some papers, but I wouldn’t really call this a sheening ink. Strokes were crisp and clean on all papers tested, and that’s not surprising given that it’s made by a Sailor master. Ghosting is surprisingly light (even on standard office copy paper), and I haven’t had any problems with bleeding at all. Drying was good, too.
Giftionery Delta Skyhigh comes in the 50 ml bottle that we all know from Sailor’s Manyo series. If you get a chance to grab a bottle, do! And if you’re planning a trip to Osaka, definitely stop by Giftionery Delta. There’s no question, their shelves are filled with temptation!
