Private Reserve - Infinity Ultramarine
In the art world, the ultramarine pigment is often thought of as the “true blue”. It first came from Lapis Lazuli, and the deep blue has a brightness and glow that make it quite brilliant. They’re something a lot of people look for in a blue ink, and Private Reserve’s Infinity Ultramarine shares those traits. To non-ink people, it might be just a blue, but I think a lot of ink lovers and artists will look at it and think, “oh, now that’s a nice blue!” (Check out the Tomoe River swatch and see what you think.)
When you look closely, you’ll find a bit of shading on coated papers, less on uncoated. This ink is all about the color and the writing consistency. It flows well, wet but always comfortable. It’s an Infinity series ink, so you shouldn’t have to worry about hard starts if you keep the pen uncapped for reasonable pauses during normal writing sessions. I find that the Infinity inks do their job quite well. Feathering wasn’t much of an issue at all, and even on office copy, show through was mild. These inks all seem to dry quickly, too. Good stuff!
I think this is a nice blue, and the glow and performance really stand out. There are a lot of people who love a good blue, and many use them exclusively as their everyday ink. In my mind, an everyday ink is exactly what Private Reserve had in mind when they created this ink, and they did a very good job! Enjoy!
Special thanks to @privatereserveink.official and @yafabrands_official for sending this and several other inks over to try. It is very much appreciated!
