Monteverde - Key Lime Pie
Key Lime Pie, which is both one of my childhood favorites, and a very nice ink! It’s from Monteverde, and as you might have guessed, it’s part of the Sweet Life series.
Visually, this is an energetic, very citrusy, lemon-lime green. It’s a fun color! It’s also a decent shading ink, with a nice, crisp halo that gives it great definition. The shading adds bright accents that look great next to the darker areas. Light greens can be difficult, and often don’t work that well for long writing. In this case, Monteverde got everything right, and it’s highly legible. This ink pops, but it’s never blinding.
In terms of writing experience, it performed really well. Strokes were sharp and crisp on all six test papers. The confident halo was visible on everything except office copy, and it gives strokes contrast and depth. Even without it, strokes were clear and sure on office copy, too. I liked it best on Mnemosyne and Apica, but it was pretty consistent, overall. Drying was slow on Rhodia at 25 seconds, but this was the exception. On other premiums, it was 10-15 seconds, and under 5 seconds on office copy.
Monteverde inks are generally very well-behaved, smooth writers with good flow, and strong colors. Key lime Pie is all of that, and more. Plus, the price is always right with this brand. Highly recommended!
