Fanyantan - (19) Sakura Blizzard
I’m so excited to show this beautiful, interesting ink! This is Fanyantan No. 19 Sakura Blizzard. Fanyantan is a somewhat difficult brand to get outside Asia, but wow do they make some beautiful, multi-chromatic inks! There are so many beautiful inks from China, but it’s difficult to find any reliable information about Fanyantan itself. On Fountain Pen Companion, there are currently 69 inks listed under the brand, so the few I have are only the very beginning of what they offer!
As you can see, Sakura Blizzard is a fascinating, complex ink. It’s hard to believe that this is one ink! The swatch card and splatter images show hints of tans, greens, oranges, and deep pinks in the wettest areas. The splatter shows even more of the deep, dusty rose, and a dark edging that whispers electric green at the outermost borders. Look at all of the green in the single pass stripe and the double pass stripe! In writing, there’s a lot of the beautiful dusty rose pink, and it shades towards the orange with a heavy edging that darkens before ending in a green outline. There are so many colors present, so many faces to this ink!
The ink writes beautifully and differs widely in appearance based on the paper. I prefer it in wet nibs on coated papers. Feather and show-through are not an issue at all. It also dries in a reasonable time.
If you can find it (look to AliExpress, or Taobao for best prices, but you’ll probably find it on Amazon or eBay, as well), I have no doubt that you’ll fall in love. I highly recommend you make the effort to try some of Fanyantan’s beautiful inks!
