Dominant Industry - October Leaves
Just back from a trip to Korea where I had the pleasure of visiting Dominant Industry, their Ink Library and Laboratory, and meeting the owner, Mr. Lee. It was a great experience, and I brought back some treats!
Today, it’s one of Dominant Industry’s fall 2022 releases. This is October Leaves from the Pearl series. It’s a beautiful autumn ink that definitely reminds me of the season’s changing colors. The base color here is a rich, warm yellow orange. It’s a buttery, almost caramel orange and is quite attractive. There’s some shading with the right nib and paper combinations, but it’s the rose gold shimmer that takes the opening spotlight. It has just the right amount of shimmer to highlight strokes without dominating or detracting from the base. There’s also a nice, darkened edging that adds definition. Visually, this is a lovely ink.
There’s no disappointment in writing performance, either. October Leaves is wet and smooth in flow. The shimmer is extremely fine and hasn’t caused any clogging issues in the several pens I’ve filled. The edging keeps the stroke profile clean and sharp, and drying is average or better, as well. This is a nice writing ink.
This is the first Dominant Industry ink that I’ve tried, and I’m impressed! I also love the iconic lightbulb bottles. They feel significant and elegant at the same time. I definitely recommend October Leaves. It’s a real beauty. You’ll also love the iconic bottles. Enjoy!
