Dominant Industry - November Leaves
November Leaves is one of the most recent releases from Dominant Industry. It’s part of their Standard line. When I first opened it, I was using an EF nib and that was a mistake. It lacked the depth I had seen in a swatch at their Ink Library. However, when I tried it with a juicy medium and then a stub nib all of the beauty returned. This is a lovely ink for writing in broader nibs, and it’s especially nice for artistic creations!
The base color is a cool, greyish tan with a hint of orange. In areas of saturation, it gains warmth and shows off a variety of tones. Areas of pooling give you a nice powdery gray with a burnt brown edging. The name couldn’t be more appropriate, as the ink has all of the colors of autumn’s dried fallen leaves. In the end, I find it quite attractive.
In writing, the flow is wet and very comfortable on the page. There’s a slight edging that keeps the stroke profile clean and crisp. No problems with bleeding or heavy show-through were found. It’s not the fastest drying ink, but it isn’t terribly slow, so no problems there, either. The chromatography shows a grey that holds, so it’s more water-resistant than I expected.
Dominant Industry November Leaves is perfectly matched to the season. It performs well in writing, but I recommend sticking with medium or broader nibs to get the most out of it. The range of colors makes it a nice arts ink, too. You’ll also love Dominant Industry’s bottles. They’re stunning! Enjoy!
