Fanyantan - (20) Qinghai Wave
This is another wonderfully complex, multi-chromatic ink from Fanyantan. They make such fantastically gentle beauties! Ink number 20, Qinghai Wave is a mysterious blend of greens, pinks, yellows, and tans.
While a medium forest green is the primary color here, extroverted pinks and tans become almost its equal in areas of wet application. The splatter shows how significant they can become against the backdrop of green. In writing, drier nibs and narrower lines let the green keep the spotlight. Wetter nibs and wider lines are where the pinks and tans blend and blossom. Strokes fill with a dusty, almost muddy mix of pink and tan, with the deeper green providing the foundation and the edging.
In appearance, this ink won’t be for everyone. My guess is that there will be both passionate supporters and fervent detractors of Fanyantan Qinghai Wave. However, few will disagree when I say that in terms of performance, this is a very nice ink. It’s consistent, and it flows very comfortably. It’s crisp and clean, and it works well across a wide range of papers. It dries quickly, too. In performance, what’s not to like!
With Fanyantan inks, the problem is likely going to be finding some! It’s a difficult brand to find outside of Asia (AliExpress and Taobao are best for prices, but you’ll probably find sellers on Amazon and eBay, as well). If you like what you see and can find a seller online, I think you’ll discover the brand is well worth the effort!
