Diamine - Hope Pink
Hope Pink is from Diamine’s standard line of inks. It isn’t shy, with a bold, bright, medium-to-dark pink that isn’t confused with red or orange undertones. Wet it appears a bit red, but that disappears completely as the ink dries. If there were any red, you’d have to call it a magenta, but this one is pure pink!
I found subtle, gold sheen edges in the saturated areas of swatches, but in writing, they never really developed. Shading isn’t dramatic, but there’s a consistent blending from medium to dark along strokes on coated papers, and occasional pops of light at some stroke ends. This ink is all about the color. It’s strong and bright, but never blinding like its neon cousins.
In terms of flow, it’s just slightly drier than neutral with a touch of feel in dry-writing nibs and feeds. In a wet writer, you probably won’t find it dry at all. Drying times match this at 25 seconds, which is only a bit longer than average.
In writing, strokes were clean and sharp without feather or spread. (I found a little on Oasis, but this may have been more to do with fingerprints on the page, than the ink itself.) It was crisp on all other papers tested. I’d say performance was excellent.
Hope Pink and the other inks in Diamine’s standard line come in both 30 ml, and the enormous 80 ml bottles. Both are very affordably priced (as we all know), and widely available. If you need a nice, pure pink, this is definitely a good choice.
