Diamine - Pink Champagne
Another 2018 addition to Diamine’s Shimmer ink series, this is Pink Champagne. Diamine shimmers are generally very good and very forgiving. I don’t often have clogging problems or flow issues with their many of their shimmer inks at all. They may not be the most innovative, but they are always of a nice quality, and they offer a huge range.
While I do see a rosé champagne pink at times, I would say it’s more accurate to call this color a red salmon. It’s fairly saturated in a wet writing pen and comes across a bit too dark in normal strokes to really call a pink. Regardless of what we call it, it’s both gentle and bold, and a very appealing color. This is another example of a shimmer ink that deserves a non-shimmer alternative. If I end up producing a line of inks, I know that’s how I would release shimmer inks.
As for the shimmer, it is both generous and restrained at the same time. While it does reduce the potential for shading (there is some, but I wouldn’t call it a strong shading ink), it never really overwhelms the base color. You never doubt that this is a salmon red ink. The same qualities that allow it to flow smoothly keep the particles evenly distributed across strokes.
As I’ve mentioned, flow was consistent and neutral to wet. I didn’t find any feathering. Strokes have a nicely defined edging. Again, the even distribution of shimmer particles allows the ink to show its qualities and perform at its best. Drying times were average or slightly longer, but not something to worry about.
Diamine Pink Champagne is quite nice. It performs well and looks great. If you like shimmer inks, this is a easy recommendation. You’ll find it at many of the popular online retailers, and it comes in the 50 ml bottle. Enjoy!
