Diamine - Caramel Sparkle
Released in 2016, Caramel Sparkle is an interesting, complex ink, both beautiful, and extremely likable! This is another stunning ink from Diamine’s Shimmertastic collection. Diamine doesn’t hold anything back in creating inks for this series!
Visually, Caramel Sparkle is a rich, earthy blend of falling autumn leaves. It’s similar to Diamine Brandy Dazzle, but lighter and less burnt at its darkest. Wet, there is an unusual streak of greenish yellow. As it dries, this fades to the gorgeous mix of amber oranges, reds, and browns. The end result is a beautiful blood orange caramel. Moderate shading highlights both its lighter and darker personas. This is a gold shimmer ink, but against the rich orange-red backdrop, the shimmer appears more copper. It really complements the base color well.
As a writing ink, it performs very well. It’s neither wet, nor dry, and flows nicely. I didn’t have any problems with the shimmer in use or maintenance. Strokes were sharp and clean. Shading and a halo edge appeared on premium papers, but not on office copy. This is a shimmer ink, though, so both are subdued and camouflaged. Drying was fast at 10-15 seconds on premiums, and under 5 seconds on office copy. This is a nice writing ink.
I really like Diamine Caramel Sparkle! It has all of the energy and celebration, without the headaches that some shimmers create. It’s really quite a beautiful ink, and it’s especially suited to autumn. It has the majesty of a beautiful mountain forest scene, when the leaves change colors, and blanket the ground. I can’t imagine not being wowed!
