Diamine - Cherry Sunburst
Cherry Sunburst, is from Diamine’s 2019 Guitar series. This five-ink series is based on popular colorways and finishes available on Gibson Les Paul guitars. I really like this ink. I’ve tried several in the series, and this is my favorite.
Cherry Sunburst is a gorgeous blend of red and brown. It’s rich and earthy in a way that feels warm and comforting. It projects stability and confidence. It brings to mind a well-aged whisky or cognac. The more you write, the better the page looks!
As a writing ink, Cherry Sunburst performed very well. I had fantastic results on Rhodia, Mnemosyne, and Apica papers, but Rhodia was the standout. Feathering was not a problem, and all three had some shading and halo edging. In the case of Rhodia, the halo was pronounced, and stroke profiles were razor sharp! Drying times ranged from 30-35 seconds. There was moderate feathering, and weaker shading and halo on both Kokuyo (coated) and standard office copy paper. Both were usable, but far less than ideal.
Diamine inks are generally easy to like. They offer a wide, varied, and interesting selection from which to choose. They’re reliable performers, and they’re always affordably priced. Cherry Sunburst lives up to those expectations. It’s truly a gorgeous red-brown, and I couldn’t recommend it more highly. In terms of red browns, it’s certainly one of my favorites!
