Colorverse - Chesapeake Bay
Colorverse began releasing their U.S. States collection in the summer of 2021. Today’s ink honors the state of Virginia and depicts the Chesapeake Bay. The Chesapeake is the largest estuary in the U.S., and is bordered by Virginia, Maryland, and the Atlantic Ocean. It’s famous for its seafood (crabs and oysters) and for the 7km Chesapeake Bay Bridge.
Possibly representing the aging steel of the bridge, this ink is a complex, creamy blend of tans, yellows, and greys. The splatter shows strong, orange-yellow components and a powdery grey texture atop areas of wet application. In medium nibs, written strokes are a beautiful brownish yellow-grey. I really like what I see.
Chesapeake Bay is a nice writing ink (Colorverse inks are consistent in that way). There’s some shading, a strong, clean stroke profile, and lots of movement in coloration. It’s a fairly wet ink and flows comfortably. Drying was average at 15-20 seconds on Rhodia dot pad.
Colorverse Chesapeake Bay (Virginia) is an unusual color, and I like it very much. It’s perfect for work, but can be used very creatively, as well. Enjoy!
