BlueBlack x Diamine - Han River Park
한강공원 (Han River Park) is the second ink in the ten-ink Seoul City set from BlueBlack pen shop in Seoul. If the bottles look familiar, that’s because the inks were made by Diamine. Together with London and New York, this is the third set in the City series. Each set is filled with inks themed to represent aspects and icons of a great city of the world. When lined up, the bottles create a skyline view of Seoul that matches the packaging.
Han River Park surprised me. Again, I wondered whether it would be usably saturated. And again, once dry, my worries disappeared.
This is a nice green, and as the comparison image shown below shows, it isn’t a common green, either. It’s very much a grassy park, fresh field green, or a young bamboo leaf green. It’s sunny and bright in shading and when wet. As it dries, a peachy, pink grey emerges in stroke centers. It has a nice, crisp, darkened edge in writing, which gives good definition. There’s a lot of shading, too, which adds personality.
In writing, this is a very wet ink. It performed well on all six test papers, but I think I prefer it on the premium uncoated papers overall. Drying was faster here and is a bit longer on coated papers. This is a nice writing ink.
I like Han River Park and love the Seoul City set. It’s an unusual green with more complexity than you may first imagine. It performed well, and I think the writing samples look great!
You can find the set at BlueBlack Pens in Seoul or on their website to order. They have quite a few interesting limited-edition inks, and they’re well worth a look!
