What an orange! What an ink! In Pink Sands Santa Cruz, Vinta Inks have created a brilliant, bright, deep mandarin orange, and combined it with all of the magic and show of Carnival!

Packed with peachy, gold shimmer, this ink dazzles the eyes and intoxicates the spirit. Depending on the wetness of the nib and feed, and the paper used, Santa Cruz ranges from a deep mid-orange to a bottomless electric mandarin orange.

As a writing ink, it’s the deeper mandarin that flows from my wet, medium test nib on the swatch card. Here it’s crisp and clean, and easy to read, with just a hint of shading. In longer paragraphs, I noticed more of the shading than on the swatch or the splash. As you can see both above and below the splash, the soft orange shimmer almost blindingly envelopes written strokes on Rhodia 80g paper. There wasn’t any feather or bleed on any of the test papers I used. It’s very clean and well-defined as a writing ink.

If I have to point to something as a negative, I wouldn’t call it the fastest drying ink. However, it really isn’t terribly slow, so that’s not too concerning overall. It certainly isn’t a reason to dismiss such a beautiful powerhouse!

In my opinion, Vinta Inks is one of the most interesting producers on the market. In Pink Sands Santa Cruz, they’ve created a shimmering orange beauty! If you have the chance, grab some!
