Vinta Inks - Lakambini - Ink drop

In early 2022, Vinta Inks released the Fairytale Collection. This 5-ink shimmer series features inks honoring the Lola Basyang fairytales beloved throughout the Philippines. Today, I’m featuring Lakambini (aka The Maiden), which was inspired by the story of a slave’s daughter outwitting a king to become a princess.

This beautiful maiden has the complexity of a bird’s feather with the soft, pillowy base of pink and touches of lilac. It’s a delicate, almost satiny soft pink. A gorgeous, brassy gold shimmer generously accents each stroke and adds a regal glimmer to this princess. Both ink and shimmer create shading, transitioning from golden-coated dark areas to billowy pink lights.

I’m really impressed with how beautifully Lakambini writes! It performed very well on all papers tested using a medium nib. There was no feather or bleed-through, and it dried very quickly. In long sessions using a TWSBI medium, the fine-particle shimmer caused no real problems in writing, and turning the pen occasionally was enough to keep it flowing smoothly. Cleaning required effort, but that’s expected with a shimmer ink.
