Tono & Lims - A2 Harvest Persimmon
Today’s ink is A-2 Harvest Persimmon from Tono & Lims. This burnt autumn orange beauty is the second of the three-ink Harvest set, and is part of the mixable ink Producer series. The color screams persimmons, with all of their subtleties. I’d call it a perfect match for the delicious fruit in various stages of ripeness.
Visually, this persimmon red-orange is stunning. The splatter shows some nice dark edging on pooled areas, and this can be seen in writing as an edge halo. The halo is particularly pronounced on Rhodia and Apica, and on these papers, the ink is at its best. Shading adds some nice accents, as well. It’s a nice, rich color that stands out well.
As a writing ink, Harvest Persimmon performs well. It’s wet and flows comfortably on the page. Strokes were crisp on all papers, but I prefer the stronger halo profile mentioned earlier. Halo and shading were visible on all premiums, but not on office copy. Drying was quite fast at 10-15 seconds on most premiums, and under 5 seconds on office copy. Oddly, the two papers I preferred (Rhodia and Apica), took slightly longer to dry (15-20 seconds) than the others.
This is a beautiful persimmon red-orange, and it’s a nice writing ink, as well. However, after reviewing A-1 Harvest Rice, yesterday, I expected more drama out of A-2 Harvest Persimmon. I’d love to see more shading, and a stronger halo. As it is, though, it’s still a very nice ink, and a beautiful, unusual color.
