Starry Ink - Lime
This is Starry Ink Lime from the Season 4 of the Sodapop series. It comes in both a 35 ml bottle, or in the 4-ink, 5 ml set. The set includes a shimmer packet to add as you wish, and the 35 ml, Season 4 bottles include the shimmer and a vial of aroma liquid! That’s unique, and a lot of fun!
The base color of Starry Ink Lime is shockingly accurate to the color of the fruit. From time-to-time, there’s even a little hint of brown in areas of saturation, which mimics spots on lime peel as it ages. It’s very convincing! I tested without adding anything, then added a bit of shimmer. It’s a nice, satiny silver (in Season 3 of the Sodapop series, it was gold.) Later, I added a bit from the vial of aroma liquid and continued testing.
In all three stages of testing, writing was crisp and clean with no feathering at all. A lot of aroma inks feather, but not a problem here (they talk about maintaining surface stability with aroma additives in the instruction book that’s included.) The shimmer didn’t cause any clogging problems at all. Performance was consistent with and without shimmer or aroma (or both). Neither showthrough, nor drying were a problem. And as you can see in the Ink Report image, water-resistance was very good, too.
I like this ink very much. It’s a nice earthy green that looks like limes! I really like the ability to add shimmer as I like (or not at all). With the 35 ml bottle, you also get the fun of adding aroma liquid if you want. I’ve never seen this option before, and it adds to the fun! The 4-ink, 5 ml set includes Watermelon, Grapefruit, and Mint inks, as well as Lime. Difficult to choose between the 35 ml or the 4-ink set, but I’m glad they offer the options. Good fun!
Thank you to @starryink_official for sending this and bunch of other inks over to try (and the beautiful Ink Report paper - more on that later.) Over time, I’ll review inks from several different series from Starry Ink.
