Starry Ink - Sodapop - Raspberry
What a fun set! Starry Ink’s Sodapop series comes in two sets of four inks. I chose the season 2 set, as I liked the warmer palette of colors. The box includes the four small eye dropper bottles of inks, as well as a packet of silver shimmer powder, and a small metal spoon. The inks are nice on their own, but you can add the shimmer to customize them to your taste. Trying different amounts of shimmer is all part of the fun, but I recommend adding it in tiny amounts until you find the level you like!
The ink here is Raspberry, and I added two small portions of shimmer. The base color is a warm, rich cranberry red. It’s nice, but fairly standard. Two portions of shimmer had a much greater effect than I expected, and it’s visible in each stroke. This gave it a lovely, soft, pearly mask and added a lot of pop!
Raspberry is a nice shading ink, and even with the added shimmer, each stroke shows wide variation in color. The fine-particle shimmer didn’t cause any clogging or cleaning concerns. There is less smearing than expected, as well. This may be due to the ink’s quick drying properties. In terms of writing, I’m really impressed!
I’m really enjoying Starry Ink’s Sodapop set. It’s well put together, and a lot of fun! So far, the only negative is the small bottle size. These are 5 ml bottles, which is plenty to play with, but they also offer larger bottles of individual colors. I picked this set up on AliExpress, and the cost including shipping was only US$20. That’s a real bargain for so much fun!
