Starry Ink - Narwhal Tail
Narwhal Tail is from Starry Ink’s Mood Tail series. Inks in this series are multichromatic and change color based on temperature and humidity. Narwhal Tail blends light blue, pink, and violet, and there is a vial of silver shimmer to add as you wish.
Most of my swatch images show the base ink on the left and with shimmer added on the right. The long writing sample on CAL paper is without shimmer, while other letterings are with shimmer added.
The most common base color result for me was a pretty, light sky blue with hints of pink and violet. At times, the base was much more violet with pinks and blues developing within strokes. It’s a very beautiful ink, and the color-changing properties and color blends are very interesting and quite nice.
In all but one example, writing performance was excellent. There were some odd eruptions on the Iroful swatch lettering, but that was the only occasion. I think it was a one-time event, and had no problems at all, otherwise. As you see, the long writing sample on CAL paper is perfect, and that was my normal experience. The ink flows well with or without the shimmer, and strokes were consistent and clean.
The Starry Ink Mood Tail series inks come in very nice 40 ml bottles that are beautifully packaged for safe shipping and display. Starry Ink launched their new shopping website with international shipping on January 1, 2025. You can also find them @starryink_official on IG. Give them a look! It’s an exciting and innovative company, and I really like what they are doing!
Special thanks to Starry Ink for sending this and several other inks over to try! (As usual, if I accept inks or pens to try, it is always with the clear understanding that I may or may not review them. If I do, I will always include all the negatives and positives that I find.)
