Autumn Mocha Bean is the second of two inks that Dominant Industry created for the Autumn 2024 Seoul Pen Show. With the first a fiery orange and this dark brown, both are perfect celebrations of Autumn.

Mocha Bean captures the rich browns of this ink nicely. The base is a deep, dark walnut, and there are lovely chocolate notes that come through in the lighter shaded areas of each stroke. This is a consistent, strong shader across different papers, and the variation really adds to the visual appeal. It’s quite delicious and comforting.

For my taste, flow and wetness are perfect. It’s wet, smooth, and luxurious in writing experience. It’s also very consistent in performance. Strokes are clean and sharp across all the papers that I tested. Ghosting was minor, especially for such a rich ink, and drying has been average or better, as well. No complaints, at all!

This is a special-edition ink for the Seoul Pen Show, but I imagine there is (or maybe there will be) something very similar in their regular offerings. It’s a very nice, complex dark brown that would be popular as part of their standard collection.
