Sailor - Shikiori - Yuki-Akari
Sailor’s Shikiori series is one of my favorites, and is filled with really nice, consistent inks. Yuki-Akari wasn’t one of my early choices in the series, as I didn’t expect to be especially wowed. That was a mistake. I have a lot of inks in this category of blue, but Yuki-Akari is a real standout, and I immediately knew that I liked it.
Meaning “snow light” in English, Yuki-Akari is indeed a gorgeous, bright, light blue, with far greater depth and character than I first anticipated. It’s really a very nice writing ink, very consistent, and easy to read. There’s some shading, and a strong halo that gives it great definition. There are no issues with feather or show through.
I’m sorry that I didn’t try this beautiful ink sooner, and I strongly recommend you consider it next time you’re looking for a light blue. It’s hard to go wrong with Sailor inks, but Shikiori Yuki-Akari is a very nice one.
