Sailor - Shikiori - Yamadori
One of my early favorite inks, Yamadori is a wonderful deep blue teal form the Shikiori series. The Shikiori inks represent a real bargain, considering they are from Sailor.
The base is a beautiful, slightly dark peacock blue. It’s a blue that I can look at over and over again without finding it boring. Yamadori shades nicely, but not aggressively. There are dark areas, but lights really only lighten to a medium shade of the base. It often reveals a deep red sheen in areas of saturation, and you can find some edge sheening on some premium papers.
In writing, it is very well-behaved. Feathering is low at its worst, and for a fairly saturated color, there’s little show through. It dries fairly quickly, too. This ink has always played nicely.
The Shikiori line is an affordable option in the Sailor catalog, too. If you’ve never tried it, I can’t recommend it enough! You’ll like Yamadori.
