Robert Oster - Sedona Red
Sedona Red is one of the Arizona-themed Robert Oster inks exclusively available at Pen Chalet. Much like the first ink I reviewed from the series, Antelope Canyon, there is a strong dark edging that contrasts the primary coloration nicely and really makes strokes pop! The red base color here is a very rich, deep scarlet. In the gem world, I’d call it a pigeon’s blood red. Emotionally and psychologically, it’s a powerful, potent color, and this is magnified with the strong, dark edging. I love it!
As a writing ink, it performs very well. Although I didn’t find the same strong shading of some of the others in the series, there is a nice bronze sheening. The sheen is prominent in the splatter, as well as in the edging on written strokes on coated papers. Drying times were slightly longer than I prefer, but that is my only real complaint.
Overall, I really like Sedona Red, and I don’t hesitate to recommend it to you. I have a number of very nice dark scarlets in my collection, but the prominent sheening adds a little something extra here. Enjoy!
