Robert Oster - GoGo
GoGo is another beauty from Australia’s Robert Oster. This ink is all energy. If Iroshizuku Ajisai were radioactive, it would look something like GoGo! That’s not to say that I don’t like it. Quite to the contrary. This is an addictive ink that gets more attractive each time you look at it.
Visually, GoGo is a cool, slightly faded, electric violet-blue. It almost pulses with energy and life. It’s a moderate shader, with lights losing saturation and highlighting the violet Dr. Jekyll, while dark areas glow with saturation and release the blue Mr. Hyde. As the splatter shows, areas of pooling are covered in a fiery yellow-orange sunset sheen. This carries over in writing as a stroke edge sheen on some premium papers. It’s a stunning combination of effects.
As a writing ink, GoGo is consistent and true. I liked it on all six papers tested. Strokes on premiums were sharp and clear, with just a slight feather on office copy with a juicy medium nib. Stroke sheen was never over-powering and appeared in varying degrees on all papers except office copy. Shading was never distracting and added lovely movement and contrast. Drying was a very reasonable 10-20 seconds on premium papers, and under 5 on office copy.
This is quite an ink. While it won’t be for everyone, its fans will definitely be devoted. If you’re ready to let loose, and dance, get yourself a bottle of GoGo!
