Robert Oster - Fire & Ice
This review is a short one, because Robert Oster Fire & Ice is the non-shimmer version of previously reviewed Silver Fire & Ice. The base color, performance details, and writing experience are exactly the same.
There is one notable difference between the shimmer and non-shimmer versions of this ink. In the shimmer version, I mentioned the prominent flashes of orange and red that dance with the pink-magenta sheen of Silver Fire & Ice. The sheen on Fire & Ice is equally visible, but the oranges and reds never develop. The shimmer particles must be interacting in a way that brings out the oranges and reds.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wished that a non-shimmer version of a shimmer ink was available, but frustratingly it was not. I’m not sure why makers don’t routinely offer non-shimmer versions, but most don’t. The odd exceptions that quickly come to mind are Colorverse and Tono & Lims, and I’m happy to add Robert Oster to that quick (and, no doubt, incomplete) list!
Robert Oster Fire & Ice is lovely. It’s perfect for Monday through Thursday, but Friday and Saturday belong to Silver Fire & Ice! I definitely recommend both!
