Pennonia - Tihanyi Lila
Wow! This is a very interesting, very attractive, and very unusual ink. I really like it! Pennonia’s Tihanyi Lila was inspired by the lavender fields near the Hungarian town of Tihanyi. Shading lets the somewhat muted, slightly reddish violet ink show the wide range of purples found in lavender flowers.
At first glance, it definitely leans a bit red, which results in quite beautiful lavenders light to dark. As the splatters and macro photos show, there’s almost a rainbow parade of colors released in areas of sheen and wet application. On some papers, stroke centers show this rainbow variation just peeking into visibility. Visually, it’s a very delightful mix of colors and shades.
Tihanyi Lila is neither wet, nor dry, but flows very comfortably. There’s some shading, and a strong stroke profile makes it sharp and confident on the page. Coated papers bring out more variation and coaxed some of the additional colors to the surface. Drying was slightly longer than I like, but not terrible.
This is a beautiful ink, and a nice writing ink, as well. I think it has great potential for washes and water brushes, too! I bought a sample to review, but a bottle will be part of my next order! Enjoy!
