PenBBS - 290 Phoenix Dance
Wow! This ink is truly a wolf in sheep’s clothing! At its foundation, Phoenix Dance is a lovely canary yellow, but this bird is on fire with flames of glittery golden shimmer! In areas of pooling, a delicious, vibrant orange halo defines the edges. Visually, it's a stunningly beautiful combination.
I’m pleasantly surprised by the legibility of this ink. Yellows, and canary yellows in particular, can be almost unusable in terms of legibility. They often almost disappear on the page, but this isn’t the case with Phoenix Dance. The ink actually appears a bit darker in written strokes, and the shimmer makes everything pop.
This is a wet ink, but the dry time is fairly reasonable. I’ve only used it in a couple of pens, but it hasn’t given me any problems in terms of flow or cleaning. As with any shimmer ink, I’m a bit more careful, in general, but PenBBS shimmers are typically very reliable.
I like this ink. I won’t write with it often because I don’t often write in yellow, but I didn’t buy it hoping to make it a daily writing ink. This is a special occasion ink, and a beautiful ink for art. I’m happy to have it!
PenBBS has a huge selection of inks, with a wide variety that are quite unusual. I’m always looking forward to exploring more from what they offer!
