One of Organics Studio’s super sheening inks, Thoreau Walden is a potent concoction! I’ve seen it described as a blue teal, but to my eyes this is a teal that definitively leans towards the deep green side of the green-blue spectrum.

In practice, there really is little point in discussing the base color, because when Walden hits the paper, it’s absolutely covered in a thick, oozing, glorious lacquer of scarlet pink-red sheen! If that’s for you, then you’ve found the right ink! A simple written stroke dries in a reasonable amount of time, but wetter application and areas of pooling may take hours before they are dry. That creates some problems with smudging.

Once dry, it shows that it could be a beautiful writer. There’s no feathering and strokes are clear and crisp. This is an ink that you need to be particularly cautious in handling. Every time that I’ve used it, I’ve tried to be careful, but I always seem to end up with six, eight, ten spots of green on my hands and arms. If this were to spill, I have a feeling I’d be seeing green for months and months! Use caution.

Without a doubt, H. D. Thoreau “Walden” is a stunning, super sheening ink. I don’t think it’s an ink I will use for writing purposes very often, but for those special occasions, it's a really great option. I’ve heard that diluted, it becomes a very useable writing ink, and I may experiment with that a bit. I also think this is a great art ink. It’s powerful, and very striking.
