Monteverde - Cherry Danish
This is Cherry Danish, another of the inks in the Sweet Life series, Monteverde’s beautiful homage to pastries and desserts. This ink screams cherries, and just looks delicious!
Visually, this is a beautiful, rich, earthy cherry red, somewhere between a scarlet and vermilion. At times, there are very subtle orange and brown undertones, and broader nibs really let the beautiful reds sing. It’s a moderate shading ink, with light accents of cinnamon and watermelon pink decorating stroke ends and flourishes. The splatter shows significant darkening surrounding areas of pooling and saturation. In writing, this can be seen as a black cherry stroke halo on premium papers, which adds clarity and depth to stroke profiles. This is a very attractive ink!
As writing inks, Monteverde inks are generally consistent, reliable, and solid performers. Cherry Danish is a great example of that, and the writing experience is flawless. Strokes were crisp and clean on all six test papers, without any hint of feather or bleed. Shading was moderate, but consistent. Halo was visible on everything other than office copy. This ink is a lovely balance between wet and dry, and flow was consistent and smooth. Drying was 15-20 seconds on premiums (Slightly longer on Rhodia at 25-30), and 5 seconds on office copy. This is a nice writing ink.
Cherry Danish is an easy recommendation. It’s a gorgeous red that writes beautifully, and it’s easy on the eyes for readers. Monteverde inks are one of the best deals on the market, and Cherry Danish is one of their great ones!
