Monteverde - Burgundy
Monteverde released Burgundy for the 2020 Los Angeles International Pen Show, but it’s widely available today. This is rich, warm, plum burgundy. Like most of the Monteverde inks that I’ve tried, it’s very well-behaved and flows well. I would place it directly in the middle between wet and dry. As shown on the swatch card, it’s a very quick drying ink.
I’ve tried this ink in both medium and fine nibs. I have not found much shading, but a yellow-green sheen can be seen in areas of pooling. The color is interesting. It’s both rich and cottony matte at the same time.
I have a number of inks in the black-red, and brownish-red categories. This is probably one of the truest plums in that group, and I appreciate that. Monteverde Burgundy is a nice ink with a deep, rich profile. It’s a little one dimensional for me, but if you’re looking for a good black cherry-plum, this might be the ink for you!
