Delicious! This is the Monteverde that I know and love! Blue Velvet Cake is from the Sweet Life series. This is a great ink, and there are lots of fans of deep, rich, dark blues. There’s more to this ink than just that, but this is an ink for all of the dark blue fans out there!

Monteverde - Blue Velvet Cake - Rich color range

Blue Velvet Cake is a bold, confident blueberry blue-black, but it’s more complex and more playful than most similar alternatives. In broader nibs, the darks dominate, but the blues become more prominent in narrower nibs, and as the ink dries.

Monteverde - Blue Velvet Cake - Sheen!

As both the splatter and swatch images show, a very attractive rose gold-copper sheen develops in wet areas, and on both stroke ends and edges on coated papers. It’s quite eye-catching (in a good way), but it doesn’t detract from the professional feel of the ink. It adds a lot of interest to what can be a somewhat reserved part of the blue spectrum. It’s restrained enough to keep this ink office-appropriate, but fun at the same time!

Monteverde Blue Velvet Cake is a beautifully wet, smooth-flowing ink, but it still dries fairly quickly. It’s really a pleasure, especially on coated papers. It also has decent water-resistance. This is a great writing ink. You’ll like this one! Enjoy!
