Lamy - Blue
Lamy Blue is interesting. At first, it appears to be simple, somewhat boring, mid-blue. This is especially true in the swatch. It seems like the same blue that we’ve all seen, under any number of different names. However, once you start to really look, there is more to Lamy Blue than you may first imagine.
First, the ink is a much richer blue in written strokes, than it appears in the swatch. It's a nice, royal blue, with a lot of vibrancy. There is some decent shading in wider nibs. What really surprised me was the rich copper-red sheen that pops to the surface in areas of deeper pooling. This sheen is also visible on the edges of strokes with juicier nibs. Lamy Blue dries quickly, and it is well-behaved.
Lamy’s standard line includes Lamy Blue, and it's very reasonably priced. This isn't the most interesting or unusual ink, but many people simply want a nice, cheap, reliable blue. If that's what you're looking for, plus a little extra, this is a great go-to blue.
