KWZ Ink - Brown Pink
Today’s ink is KWZ’s Brown Pink. Although browns and pinks can be mixed to achieve the color of this ink, I don’t think the name accurately reflects this interesting and attractive ink. It’s neither brown, nor pink. To me, this is a medium-bodied Pinot Noir, a name as delicious as this ink!
Visually, I immediately see wine, when I see this ink. It’s a lovely, pale purple. It’s deep, and rich, and has a dry, textured look, much like a red wine. It’s not a heavy shading ink, but there is variation. Lighter areas are pale, and show more of the pink components, while darker areas are rich, and show off the deeper purples. There’s a strong bronze-gold sheen in areas of pooling, but on strokes it’s the glint of gold that catches your eye. Visually, this is a good-looking ink.
As a writing ink, Brown Pink excels. Strokes were crisp, and well-defined on premiums, with only a slight hint of feather on office copy. Shading was never especially notable, but it was visible on all papers. Sheen varied on the premiums, but it was absent on office copy. Drying times were 25 seconds on premiums, and 5 on office copy. This is a nice writing ink, and it performed well on all papers tested.
Wine-colored inks always seem to please. Like most KWZ inks, Brown Pink is a good-looking ink, and it performs well. If you’re looking for a brown or a pink, look elsewhere. However, if you’re looking for a good Pinot Noir purple, this is your ink!
