Ink Institute - Dalupalringi
Named for an important wetland conservation area in central Taiwan, and the site of two culturally significant mountain lakes, this is Dalupalringi. It’s part of Ink Institute’s “Taiwan’s Secret Realm” series, and the color is as mysterious and intriguing as the series’ name suggests.
While the base color is a calming, tranquil, dusty bluish-green, it slowly and consistently reveals secrets in faded oranges and violets in stroke centers. As the swatches and chromatography show, this multi-shader is a complex blend. It’s a beautiful shading ink with constant variation on all papers.
On high-quality papers, the cloudy color variation is strongest, and strokes are razor sharp with a darkened profile edge. There’s no edging on office copy paper, but it performs well. If anything, light-to-dark shading is possibly even more substantial on standard copy papers. It’s neutral in terms of driness and flows very well. Overall performance is great!
I don’t think I’ve seen it mentioned elsewhere, but Ink Institute’s packaging is really nicely done and deserves praise. This ink comes in a gorgeous, powdered glass 30 ml bottle. The main box is sturdy and beautifully labeled, and there is a platformed outer box sleeve that nicely displays artwork in the ink’s actual colors. This is proud packaging and shows their love.
I’ve always enjoyed inks from Ink Institute, and Dalupalringi continues that trend. It’s a beautiful writing ink, and it will especially reward the artists among us. Enjoy!
