Dominant Industry - Duftrausch
In the best of ways, I’m almost speechless! This ink is pretty amazing. I knew Dominant Industry Duftrausch was going to be a multi-chroma shader, but it’s a scented ink, as well (all three of the Twilight Garden series inks are scented.) Don’t let that put you off, though, it’s really kind of a masterpiece.
When I looked up the name, it made sense in so many ways. Duftrausch means “fragrant intoxication” and is the name of a rose. That’s exactly what you get here. It may be rose-scented, but it’s the shifting colors and results that make the ink intoxicating. Scented inks aren’t often as stable as unscented inks, but here, the performance doesn’t suffer at all. The scent doesn’t bother or linger, either, which is to me a good thing. You won’t think twice about it.
This is a difficult ink to categorize in color. It’s a cocktail that blends greys, pinks, reds, violets, and plums to drunken perfection. From paper to paper, it varies. It goes down grey, but instantly begins to change. It is truly a shapeshifter in color, and the results are beautifully intoxicating.
Writing performance is excellent. On all papers it is very good, and it’s excellent on high-quality papers. Lines are clean and sharp. There’s none of the feather you might expect from a scented ink. Flow is smooth, with a slightly dry feel, but it’s comfortable. Drying times were average on most papers, and there’s basically no showthrough at all.
This is a nice writing ink, but if you’re looking to get creative, the possibilities are endless! If you normally stay away from scented inks, give Duftrausch a try! In terms of performance, you’d never know it was scented. You won’t know unless you actively try. Dominant Industry got this ink exactly right. Duftrausch is an enchanting intoxication of color!
