Encre Classique - Carmin
Another beautiful boutique ink from L’Artisan Pastellier, this is Carmin from the Encre Classique line. For as little as €3.90 for 30 ml (if you order direct from the company), these are some of the best buys in the ink world!
Carmin (carmine in English) is generally, a deep red with a touch of purple, but in this case it’s more of a purple with a touch of red. To me, this is the beautiful reddish purple of the flesh inside a dark grape. It’s a very grape purple, intoxicating and bursting with energy. The splatter shows an unusual and very decadent orange-bronze sheen. In writing, there’s a bit of shading on coated papers, and some nice dark edging giving it clarity. It’s a pleasing color that presents well. I really like it!
Like other L’Artisan Pastellier inks, Carmin is a well-behaved writing ink. Encre Classique inks can be mixed together and diluted with water, so the possibilities are endless! Carmin dried in 10-15 seconds on average, and it performed very well on all five papers tested.
I highly recommend Encre Classique Carmin. It’s such a good-looking ink on paper, and a pleasure to use. However, if you’re new to L’Artisan Pastellier inks, don’t stop there. They offer a wide selection of colors and styles, so take your time and enjoy!
