Encre Classique - Caramel
L’Artisan Pastellier’s Encre Classique line of inks offers a wide range of mixable choices. Their inks are also some of the most affordably priced on the market! Order direct from the company for the best (shockingly good) prices.
This is Caramel, a buttery, soft, ink ranging from a very pretty, light sepia to a milk chocolate mid-brown. In my medium test nib, the ink appears as a warm caramel. It has good definition with a darkening at the edge of written strokes, and a fair amount of shading. In the splatter, a yellow-black sheen can be seen in areas of pooling and at their edges. This ink has a nice range of coloration, and depth varies based on paper choice.
As a writing ink, performance and experience were both flawless. Like other inks from L’Artisan Pastellier, it’s very well behaved. It was clean and crisp on the page, with no feather or bleed. It’s a very writer-friendly ink. Despite softness in lighter areas on some papers, it’s easy on the eyes, and a comfortable reading ink, as well.
I think you’ll enjoy Encre Classique Caramel. Plus, as the Classique inks are affordable and designed to be mixed, it’s also a good chance to experiment! They come in a wide range of quite nice colors. Picking up five or six with the intention of making a custom blend mixing kit seems like a guarantee of fun!
