Diamine x Imagined Things - iMagined iNk
Imagined Things is an independent bookstore in Harrowgate, England. To help them move to a new location and thrive during the pandemic, they ran a crowdfunding campaign in 2022 (still active at www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/imaginedthings/). They worked with Diamine to create a limited-edition ink to include as a tier gift, and they continue to sell it directly.
Diamine iMagined iNk is a pale, chalky light blue that was made to match the color of the store’s brand. It’s slightly greyish and reminds me of a comfortable pair of well-worn jeans. It’s also a dual-shading ink with nice pinks and peaches in saturated areas and stroke centers. It’s a complex ink, and a gentle, good-looking blue. It’s a strong shading ink, too.
Writing performance is consistently good (it’s a Diamine). It’s a bit on the drier side, but flow is smooth. There’s no feather, spread, or show-through to mention. Shading is strong on coated papers and pink undertones are more developed, as well. Although there’s less shading on uncoated papers, there are subtle hints of yellow that I didn’t expect. On all papers tested, drying times were fast.
This is a nice ink, and I’m surprised that I haven’t seen it before now. It’s probably too unsaturated for some, but others will love it. It’s a limited edition and only available from Imagined Things (www.imaginedthings.co.uk/shop/itsink/). It comes in Diamine’s 30 ml bottle, and amazingly, it’s only GBP2.99 a bottle! That’s a real bargain and a great way to support an independent bookstore.
Special thanks to Maria at www.inksinspiration.com for sending this (and some other beauties) from her personal collection. Take a look at her site. She offers a nice selection of inks that are difficult to find in Spain.
