Diamine Golden Oasis - a shimmery splatter

This is Golden Oasis from Diamine, a vibrant, springtime green with plenty of golden sparkle! This ink is part of the Shimmering series. I was confused by the name at first. However, with the young green representing lush vegetation, and the gold shimmer for the sparkle of sunshine reflecting off water, the name matches well and conjures notions of a garden sanctuary.

Diamine Golden Oasis’s lights and darks

Visually, Golden Oasis is a beautiful, bright green that’s overflowing with life. It’s a nice shading ink, with light areas that remind me of celery, green apple mid-tones, and darks of mature bamboo greens. This green is positive and cheery. The shimmer is a bright, brassy gold, and it coats strokes in celebration.

As a writing ink, Diamine shimmers perform consistently well, and Golden Oasis is no different. Strokes were clean and crisp on all six papers, and particularly well-defined on premiums due to the contrast of a nice, darkened edging. Shading was largely missing from office copy, but on the premium papers, it showed nicely, with coated papers shading most prominently. Drying was 15 seconds on most premiums, with uncoated premiums slightly faster. While office copy was very fast at under 5 seconds.

Diamine Golden Oasis is a very nice, fresh, vibrant green, and the golden shimmer contrasts beautifully. It’s unlike other inks in my collection, and it always brings a smile to my face. I think you’ll enjoy it!
