Blue Peppermint was originally part of Diamine’s Christmas 2019 Inkvent calendar. It’s currently available as part of their Blue Edition inks. The elegant, legged bottles in this series are simply beautiful!

Visually, there’s a lot going on here, but the pieces fit together very nicely. This is a very balanced, refined shimmer ink. The base color is a deep, marine turquoise with occasional hints of yellow. It’s a moderate shading ink, with lights fading to an aqua white, and darks deepening the greens, and yellow undertones rising to the surface. The splatter shows a thin ring of cinnamon red sheen, but I didn’t find any in writing. The real money-maker here is the brilliant, icy blue-silver shimmer. It complements the marine green-blue base, and never dominates. It’s really a beautiful ink.

As a writing ink, Blue Peppermint performs well, and it’s quite easy-going for a shimmer ink. Strokes were clean and well-defined on premium papers, and office copy, too. Shading and edge halo was strongest on coated papers, although uncoated Apica was strong in both, as well. There was some shading on office copy, but no halo. Drying was a quick 15-20 seconds on coated premiums, 15 seconds on uncoated premiums, and under 5 seconds on office copy. This is a nice writing ink.

Diamine Blue Peppermint is a lovely blue marine, made even more beautiful with the gorgeous, icy shimmer. Diamine makes very nice shimmer inks, and this one nicely balances shimmer and base color. It’s low maintenance, performs well on a wide range of papers, and it comes in a beautiful display bottle. That’s a lot of boxes ticked!
