Colorverse Alpha Scorpii - Ink Drop

Named for Antares, the brightest star in the Scorpius constellation, this is Alpha (a) Scorpii. Of the eight inks in the Colorverse Constellation series, it‘s one of two shimmering inks. It’s also one of two or three really bold stand-outs, and it definitely grabs your attention. In the Colorverse catalog online, it’s ink 014, and you’ll find in available in the iconic, 65ml bottle.

Alpha Scorpii’s coral pinks with sparkles of shimmer

Depending on your nib and the style of paper, the color ranges from a bright, candy red to a reddish coral. The shimmer here is a real showstopper, with a true, opalescent brilliance, as you can see in the images above and below. There’s some shading, as well as a crisp, well-defined edge. This is a very energizing, big smile ink!

All of the Constellation series inks have performed well on the page, and that’s true for Alpha Scorpii, as well. The shimmer is of a very fine particle, and it presented no problems in flow or cleaning. This ink is nice and wet, but not too wet, and it’s very comfortable on the page. Strokes are clean without feather, but there is some show-through on uncoated papers. Drying was fairly fast, and I don’t have any complaints to mention.

Like the others in the series, Colorverse Alpha Scorpii is a nice writer. This one stands out as a celebration ink, with its bold, brilliant display. You probably won’t want it for every day, but it’s an ink that I definitely think you’ll enjoy!
