BlueBlack x Diamine - Ford Blue
Ford Blue is a dark, rich, midnight blue. There’s very little, if any, hint of purple on most papers. It’s firmly a very dark blue. In the swatches, you’ll see a thin edging of copper sheen. This doesn’t appear often in writing, but if you look closely on coated papers, you might occasionally find a bit.
There’s not a lot of shading, but on coated papers stroke ends are decorated with a light pop of shading from time-to-time and add a flash of blue grey. This ink is all about the beautiful intensity of the deep, saturated midnight blue. It’s quite decadent and very enjoyable.
This is an excellent writing ink. Strokes are beautifully defined on coated papers and pop off the page. It’s also very good on uncoated papers. There’s almost no spread and no feather, at all. It performed very well on all of the seven papers that I used for testing.
It’s a rich ink in color, but it’s wet in flow. It has a very luxurious feel as you write. Drying time is average or better, and showthrough was far less than expected for such a dark, rich color.
Ford Blue is an excellent ink! I like it as much or more than other blue black inks in my collection. Diamine got it exactly right with this one. Together with BlueBlack’s beautiful design, this is an ink that you’ll enjoy!
Special thanks to BlueBlack for surprising me with this amazing set! Their store in Seoul is a must see for pen and ink lovers, and if you have a chance to stop by, definitely do!
