BlueBlack x Diamine - Brooklyn Bridge
Diamine Brooklyn Bridge rounds out and balances the BlueBlack-exclusive New York City set very nicely. It’s confident and sophisticated with attractive and unusual variation on coated papers.
This is a deeply organic dark green with all of the color components that you’d find amongst the decaying growth on a lush forest floor.
On uncoated papers, it’s a dark olive to forest green with only slight variation in shading. On coated papers, however, it’s far more interesting and nuanced. On Cosmo Air Light and Cosmo Air Snow papers, it’s beautifully powdery with subtle hints of the colors you see in the wild chromatography. I particularly love it on those two papers, but it’s a good-looking ink on all.
Brooklyn Bridge is a nice writing ink. It was sharp on all papers tested, including cheap copy paper. I didn’t have any problems with feathering at all. Showthrough was minimal, especially for an ink in this color range.
It’s fairly wet in flow, although I’d say it’s just a tiny bit drier than the other inks in the set. Drying was faster than average, and there’s some water-resistance, too. Inks in this color range are sometimes prone to crusting on the nib, feed, and around the rim of the bottle and cap. Thankfully, I didn’t find any evidence of it with this ink.
This is a nice ink and a very beautiful ink set. Diamine has done a great job throughout the set, and BlueBlack’s design and packaging make the City Series sets some of the most impressive on the market. You can find the sets and many other interesting exclusives on Blueblack’s (English) website (and even more on the Korean language version.) If you’re concerned with international shipping costs, check out BlueBlack’s listing on GMarket Global shopping site for very reasonable rates.
Special thanks to BlueBlack for surprising me with this amazing set! Their store in Seoul is a must see for pen and ink lovers, and if you have a chance to stop by, definitely do!
