3 Oysters Gyeoul Haneul - Ink Drop

This is Gyeoul Haneul from 3 Oysters Ink. It’s part of their I.Color.U series, and was released in the winter of 2020. Gyeoul translates to “winter”, and Haneul translates to “sky”. I think Gyeoul Haneul (Winter Sky) is a beautiful, and quite appropriate name for this gorgeous ink.

3 Oysters Gyeoul Haneul’s nice, dark edge

Visually, this is a lovely, soft, sky-blue turquoise that leans into its yellow and green undertones. It has a marine quality, and makes me think of the sea, as well as the sky. It’s a strong shader and has a nicely pronounced edge halo on all premium papers. That’s a combination that I really like. Strokes were really well-defined, and there’s a lot of shading movement on premium papers. It’s a beautiful ink!

3 Oysters Gyeoul Haneul’s beautiful variety!

As a writing ink, it’s been nothing but a pleasure. It’s wet, and well-behaved. On premiums, strokes are very sharp, with strong shading and edge halo. On office copy there’s no halo, and shading is light, but it’s still quite clean, and there’s a powderiness on uncoated papers that’s very attractive. Drying was 15-25 seconds on coated premiums, 15 seconds on uncoated premiums, and under 5 seconds on office copy.

I really like 3 Oysters inks, and I think in terms of writing experience, this is one of my favorites, so far. It’s really very beautiful on the page, too! If you’re new to 3 Oysters, this is a great ink to get to know them. If you’re an old friend, don’t pass this one by! It’s just too good to miss.
