This is Yamaguchi: Pure Delight from Tono & Lims’ Prefecture series. Yamaguchi prefecture is at the southwest tip of Japan’s largest island, Honshu. It’s known for its fruit. Yuzu, mandarin oranges, and another yellow-orange citrus called anamatsu thrives here. This beautiful ink is a great match for an area known for its wonderful citrus. Pure delight!

Tono & Lims - Yamaguchi: Pure Delight - Color Range

Yamaguchi: Pure Delight is a beautiful, warm orange-golden yellow. Even in poor lighting, it looks bathed in sunlight. Its beautiful vibrancy oozes with vitality and optimism. Orange undertones fade slightly as it dries, leaving dark areas of caramel yellows with hints of orange, and light areas of warm, sunshine yellow. This is a beautiful, very usable yellow-orange.

Tono & Lims - Yamaguchi: Pure Delight - Ink Swatch Card

As a writing ink, Yamaguchi: Pure Delight performs well. Strokes were crisp and clean on all six test papers, both coated and uncoated. There’s some edge haloing on premiums, which helps define stroke profile and contrasts against paper colors. Shading was visible on, as well, but was most prominent on coated premiums. Drying was 15-20 seconds on coated premiums, 10-15 on uncoated premiums, and under 5 seconds on office copy. This is a nice writing ink!

Tono & Lims consistently put out high-quality inks, and Yamaguchi: Pure Delight certainly is that. I couldn’t agree more with the name. This ink is a pure delight to the senses and a delight in the pen. Highly recommended!
