Today’s ink is peaceful and calming. It’s a relaxing ink that is perfectly appropriate for professional use, or for fun. Part of Tono & Lims’ Standard line, this is U & I Tonacha Green.

Tono & Lims - No.4 U & I Tonacha Green - Color Range

U & I is a beautifully restrained, deep pastel. It mixes elements of slate blue, and greyish green to create what I think of as a stone teal. This ink very evenly straddles the green-blue divide. It’s a wonderful shading ink, expressive and full, in both light and dark extremes. There’s a modest edge halo on some premiums, but it’s the shading that really captivates.

Tono & Lims - No.4 U & I Tonacha Green - Edge

This is a slightly dry ink, but it writes comfortably and flows smoothly. Strokes were sharp and clean on all six test papers. Drying was consistent at 15 seconds on premiums, and under 5 seconds on office copy. It’s a very nice writing ink, both versatile and appropriate.

In my work life, I’m a big fan of inks that are different and interesting, but still maintain a professional image when needed. Tono & Lims U & I is reliable on office copy, but the shading really comes alive on premium papers, especially in wider nibs. For business or pleasure, this is a nice ink!
