Pineider - Giallo Oro (Yellow Gold)
Pineider inks come in beautiful, rounded pyramid bottles, and they are a huge 75 ml. The Pineider website only offers 8 colors currently, but looking in April 2023, I see eleven or twelve colors available through various online retailers.
This is Pineider Giallo Oro or Yellow Gold. While there are highlights of yellow in shading, I see it more as a tropical sunrise orange than a yellow gold. Like previously reviewed Light Green, this is a bright and playful orange. It lacks the strong red influences that make some oranges overly glaring. This is more orange peel and mango. It’s a very delicious blend of orange and yellow.
Shading is gentle, but very attractive, and it really gives the ink personality. It doesn’t stray too light. It’s yellow in the lightest areas, and medium orange at its darkest. Strokes are fairly sharp. There is the tiniest amount of micro-spreading on uncoated papers, but there are no problems with feathering. Drying was very fast on uncoated and average on coated papers. Wet and comfortable in flow, it’s a good writing ink.
This is a beautiful ink. If you’re looking for a citrus orange, this one performs well and is much easier on the eye than many orange inks. You can find bottles for $20 to $30 at popular online retailers. Shop around for the lower prices, and it’s a fantastic deal for 75 ml of beautiful ink!
