PenBBS - 160 Mentha Aquatica - Ink drop

PenBBS Mentha Aquatica really is a beautiful mint green. It’s number 160 in their collection. The pictures show a slight hint of light blue, but in natural lighting this ink often remains in the greens. That variation is what caught my interest with this ink. I have a number of very light greens that lean blue, but none that remained green throughout the spectrum.

With the medium nib that I use for testing, the ink comes across as a nice, bright mid-green. There is great definition of strokes, thanks to a wonderful dark edging. It makes this a very crisp, easy-to-read ink.

There is lots of shading from light mint green to the rich, darker mid-green. In areas of wettest application, a yellow undertone appears in the darker green. In the splatter, you can see flashes of red sheen at the edges.

This is an extremely usable ink. Quite a few the PenBBS inks are wonderful for special purpose writing, with high levels of shimmer. That isn’t the case with Mentha Aquatica. It’s a beautiful writing ink.
